Somewhere Over the Rainbow Tower

My entry in the Daily Post’s weekly photo challenge: “Grid.”

On our trip to Oahu, we stayed in the Rainbow Tower at the famous Hilton Hawaiian Village on Waikiki Beach. In 1968, the Rainbow Tower opened with what is called “the world’s largest ceramic tile mosaic”. There are more than 16,000 tiles form rainbows 286 feet tall by 26 feet wide, on either end of the tower.

It is absolutely gorgeous.

Beauty and Symmetry in Architecture

A photo field trip to the Flagler Museum in Palm Beach is a beautiful place to capture gorgeous interiors and the rich history. The weather was a little difficult and so was lighting inside when you cannot use flash and my friend and I came without tripods. Even with the challenges, I could imagine how incredible the lifestyle must of been for Henry Flagler and any fortunate guests in this architectural masterpiece.

Whitehall was completed in 1902 as Henry Flagler’s Gilded Age estate in Palm Beach and today is a National Historic Landmark and open to the public as the Flagler Museum, featuring guided tours, changing exhibits, and special programs. For more information, go to: http://www.flaglermuseum.us
